Lawsuit in the USA against former goalkeeper Doni for alleged fraud has hearing scheduled for May
A court hearing is set for May 1 regarding a lawsuit against former Brazilian goalkeeper Doni Marangon, accused of defrauding real estate investors in the US.
A legal proceeding in the United States has set a deposition for May 1 involving representatives of D32 Wholesale, a company owned by former Brazilian national team goalkeeper Doni Marangon. The company, alongside Werner Macedo, is under suspicion of defrauding individuals looking to invest in real estate. The lawsuit was initiated by two individuals who contracted the construction of a house in Florida back in 2021 and are seeking reimbursement of over $59,600, which is more than R$ 300,000.
The court's decision to hold a deposition follows an exceedingly brief four-minute Zoom hearing, during which the attorneys for D32's owners and the plaintiffs discussed the case. Prior to this hearing, the Florida court had even gone as far as to threaten imprisonment for the company’s partners should they fail to appear. As of the article’s publication, attempts by G1 to reach both the legal representation of the plaintiffs and the former goalkeeper have gone unanswered.
The allegations against Doni and his associates not only raise questions about their business practices but also highlight potential concerns regarding investor protection in real estate markets, especially for foreign investors in the US. The outcome of the case could have significant implications for how similar allegations are handled in the future, both in the sports and business sectors.
