Police Investigates Mysterious Deaths of Six Environmentalists in the Bulgarian Mountains

The Bulgarian police are investigating the mysterious deaths of six people found dead in two different locations in the country’s western mountains.

Bulgarian authorities are currently investigating the unusual case of six individuals who were mysteriously found dead in the mountainous regions of western Bulgaria. The corpses were discovered across two separate locations, with a police spokesperson describing the situation as unique within the context of Bulgaria. The authorities are looking into the deaths to determine whether they stem from suicides or homicides. Among the deceased is a 15-year-old boy, who was found alongside three other bodies inside a camper van in the Okoltshitsa mountain area, raising further concern over the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

This tragic incident escalates in complexity as investigators suspect a connection to the earlier brutal killings of three other individuals whose remains were recently discovered in a cabin destroyed by fire in the Petrohan mountain area. The cabin was reportedly associated with an environmental protection association that has been active in the region for years, including assisting border patrols along the Serbian border. Notably, five of the six individuals who perished were members of this association, while the 15-year-old boy was a friend’s child, amplifying the tragedy of the event.

As the investigation proceeds, Bulgarian police have also made public surveillance footage dated February 1, indicating that they are pursuing all available leads to uncover the truth behind these deaths. The overall situation raises critical questions about the safety and security of environmental activists in Bulgaria, especially since they often operate in sensitive and potentially dangerous regions, which can lead to tensions with various groups.
