Blue Bombers sign Broxton to two-year contract
Offensive lineman Jarell Broxton has signed a two-year contract with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on the first day of CFL free agency.
Jarell Broxton, a prominent offensive lineman, has officially joined the Winnipeg Blue Bombers after signing a two-year contract on the opening day of CFL free agency. At 32 years old, the six-foot-five, 325-pound player brings considerable experience, having previously anchored the B.C. Lions' offensive line for five seasons, during which the team achieved the league's lowest sacks allowed and a record-breaking offensive performance.
In his tenure with the Lions, Broxton was recognized as the most outstanding offensive lineman for three consecutive years, highlighting his vital contribution to the team's success. He originally signed with Winnipeg in February 2020, but due to the pandemic leading to that season's cancellation, he instead played with the Lions, where he developed his skills further. His return to Winnipeg signifies a strategic move for the Blue Bombers to strengthen their offensive line as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Alongside the signing of Broxton, Winnipeg also added Canadian receiver Tommy Nield to their roster, further bolstering their offensive capabilities. Nield, hailing from Guelph, Ontario, has shown promise with his previous achievements, including impressive stats from the last season with the Grey Cup-winning Saskatchewan Roughriders. These moves during free agency reflect the Blue Bombers' intentions to enhance their competitiveness in the league.
