The pilots' union joins the march for labor reform: delays and cancellations in flights are expected

The Argentine pilots' union, APLA, will join a protest against labor reform, leading to flight delays and cancellations on February 10.

The Asociación de Pilotos de Líneas Aéreas (APLA), representing primarily pilots from Aerolíneas Argentinas, has announced its participation in a labor reform protest scheduled for February 10. This demonstration is set to occur in front of the Argentine Congress during Senate discussions on labor reform legislation. Due to this action, APLA anticipates significant delays and rescheduling of flights between 3 PM and 6 PM, affecting all airlines associated with the union.

This strike includes not only Aerolíneas Argentinas but also other carriers like American Airlines, JetSmart, and FlyBondi, which operate from Ezeiza and Aeroparque airports during the protest hours. APLA has publicly opposed the proposed labor reforms, which they believe could negatively impact working conditions and job security for pilots and airline employees. Pilots are encouraged to participate in the march, scheduled to start at 2 PM at the intersection of Hipólito Yrigoyen Avenue and Pres. Luis Saenz Peña.

The protest highlights ongoing tensions in Argentina regarding labor rights and proposed adjustments to labor laws that many in the workforce view as detrimental. This planned demonstration showcases the unity among airline pilots and the broader labor movement as they seek to influence governmental policies that directly affect their livelihoods and job security. The potential for widespread flight disruptions adds further urgency to the situation as travelers may need to adjust their plans accordingly.
