Another 'death pit' in Delhi... A young man dies after falling into a manhole in Rohini
A 30-year-old man died in Delhi after falling into an open sewer in Rohini's Sector 32.
In a tragic incident in National Capital Delhi, the open sewers and potholes hazard once again resulted in a fatality. The victim, identified as Birju Kumar, a 30-year-old laborer originally from Samastipur, Bihar, fell into an open drain near the Mahashakti Kali Temple in the Begumpur area of Rohini. This incident highlights the ongoing issues related to urban infrastructure safety in the city, posing serious risks to its residents.
The accident occurred on Tuesday evening, around 7:45 PM, when the Delhi Fire Service received an alert about a person who had fallen into the open drain. Emergency responders, including the fire brigade and police, swiftly arrived at the scene and initiated a rescue operation. Despite their efforts, Birju Kumar was found dead by the time he was pulled from the drain, raising serious concerns about the efficacy of the city's safety measures regarding open sewers.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that Birju was with a friend at the time of the incident. It was revealed that they had been drinking alcohol throughout the day, which may have impaired Birju's balance, leading him to fall unaware into the drain. His friend's lack of awareness during the situation further underscores the dangers posed by neglecting infrastructure and the implications it has on citizen safety, calling for urgent attention from local authorities to address these public safety hazards.
