The body of a young man, Weverson Trindade, who went missing on the Rio Surubiú during a Piracaia celebration, was found on Tuesday.

On Tuesday morning, the body of Weverson Trindade, a young man who had disappeared while swimming in the Rio Surubiú, was found in the region known as Fazendinha. Trindade went missing on Sunday afternoon during a local event referred to as Piracaia, which translates from Tupi-Guarani as 'fish roasted on the beach.' Eyewitness accounts indicate that he had drowned during a gathering at the riverside beachfront.

Following his disappearance, friends and local riverine residents initiated search efforts which were later supported by divers from the Corpo de Bombeiros (Fire Department) on Monday. These efforts reflected the community's commitment to finding Trindade, demonstrating the strong bonds and sense of solidarity present among the townsfolk during such difficult times. Professionals including psychologists and social assistance workers were also mobilized to provide necessary support to the grieving family.

Trindade's body has since been transported back to the city, where it will be handed over to his family for burial. This tragic incident highlights the dangers associated with recreational activities in natural water bodies, particularly during festive occasions, and underscores the need for safety measures during such events to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
