Two trucks crashed on D1 near Brno, one person died

A fatal collision involving two trucks on the D1 highway near Brno resulted in one death and another injury, leading to road closures.

On the D1 highway near Brno, specifically at the 191-kilometer mark heading towards Ostrava, two trucks were involved in a serious accident that claimed one life. The police spokesperson David Chaloupka reported that while one person died at the scene, another was taken to the hospital. As a consequence of the crash, traffic towards Ostrava has been completely blocked, causing a significant backup on the highway.

The accident occurred around 2:20 PM when one truck, for reasons that are still under investigation, rear-ended another truck. While emergency services and firefighters arrived promptly, they reported that one individual had died prior to their arrival, leaving them unable to provide assistance. Another female victim was treated at the scene and subsequently transported to the hospital to rule out major injuries.

According to information from the Czech Road and Motorway Directorate, the road restrictions are expected to be lifted around 4:25 PM. The ongoing investigation by police aims to determine the specific circumstances leading to this tragic incident.
