A tragic incident occurred in Caracaraí, southern Roraima, Brazil, where a 2-year-old girl named Ariele Leona Freitas da Silva lost her life following a fall from an 8-meter high cliff. The fall took place on Friday, September 7, in the Vila Barauana area, but Ariele was not attended to by medical professionals until Sunday, September 9. This delay in medical attention occurred after her mother noticed a significant deterioration in her daughter’s health condition, prompting her to seek help from a local nurse at the community's Basic Health Unit (UBS).

According to the police report, the child fell in the afternoon but the seriousness of her injuries was not recognized until the following morning when the mother reported her daughter’s difficulty in breathing. Upon arrival at their residence located on Vicinal 27, Km 14, the health team found Ariele unconscious on her bed. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead. This incident raises concerns about the accessibility and response time of medical services in remote areas of Brazil, especially in cases of emergency.

The community is now mourning the loss of a young life, and questions are being raised regarding parental supervision and emergency health responses in the region. Local authorities might need to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragedy to prevent such incidents in the future and ensure proper medical care is readily available for residents in remote locations like Vila Barauana.
