During a meeting with Council of Europe Secretary General Alain Berset, Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas reaffirmed Greece's commitment to the principles underpinning the Council. He praised the Council of Europe's role as a guardian of the values that constitute the shared legal culture of Europe, highlighting its contribution to the defense of democracy, the rule of law, and human rights across the continent and beyond.

Tasoulas pointed out that in a time characterized by global challenges, rapid geopolitical shifts, ongoing disputes regarding international legal order, and tests of democratic governance, multilateralism and international cooperation based on international law are more essential than ever. He stressed that these principles not only reinforce European unity but also strengthen the security and stability of the region.

In this context, he reaffirmed Greece's dedication to the commitments arising from the extensive legal framework of the Council of Europe, with the European Convention on Human Rights being a cornerstone of these obligations. This meeting underscores Greece's proactive engagement in fostering a collaborative European approach to contemporary issues.
