The city allocates funds for mental health first aid activities

The Tartu city government is providing a €3,000 grant to the organization Peaasjad to establish mental health first aid cafes and train 15 residents in the community.

The government of Tartu, Estonia, has announced a financial support initiative by granting €3,000 to the non-profit organization Peaasjad. This funding will be utilized to set up mental health first aid cafes across the city. These cafes are designed to provide a supportive environment for individuals to discuss mental health issues and learn about the available resources for mental health support.

In addition to establishing these cafes, the funding will also facilitate the training of 15 residents from Tartu, empowering them to offer mental health first aid within their communities. By equipping local individuals with the necessary skills to address mental health crises, the initiative aims to foster a more supportive and understanding community regarding mental health challenges.

This initiative is a part of a broader commitment by the Tartu city government to improve mental health awareness and care in the region. By promoting mental health first aid, the government is recognizing the importance of peer support and community involvement in improving overall mental health outcomes, which is increasingly crucial in today's society.
