Eirunepé, a municipality in the Amazonas region of Brazil, has declared a state of emergency due to significant flooding from local rivers, particularly the Purus River. As a result of the severe water conditions, 11 other municipalities, including Boca do Acre, Carauari, and Lábrea, are also on alert, with another 13 municipalities maintaining a watchful eye on the situation. This flooding represents a growing concern for both local authorities and vulnerable residents who may be disproportionately affected by the outcomes of these climatic events.

In response to this crisis, Governor Wilson Lima convened the Permanent Committee for Addressing Climatic and Environmental Events to establish prevention measures and aid strategies for families at risk. The focus of this initiative is to preemptively address humanitarian needs and organize responses ahead of the flood's peak, in order to mitigate potential social, economic, and health-related impacts on the communities involved.
