Member of Parliament Giedrius Drukteinis launches the initiative project "Lithuanian Bird Path"
Giedrius Drukteinis, a member of the Lithuanian Parliament, has introduced the "Lithuanian Bird Path" initiative aimed at commemorating prominent individuals connected to Lithuania.
Giedrius Drukteinis, a member of the Lithuanian Parliament, has announced his new project initiative named "Lithuanian Bird Path" at the meeting of the Association of Lithuanian Municipalities (LSA). During this meeting, he invited city and district mayors to participate in this initiative which aims to memorialize significant people associated with Lithuania in various forms. Drukteinis has compiled a list of 130 prominent figures from fields such as arts, politics, sports, and business, including Hollywood stars, Nobel laureates, and state leaders with direct ties to Lithuania.
The core criterion for the selection of individuals is that they are "known worldwide". Drukteinis emphasizes the importance of supplementing the knowledge about Lithuania's illustrious, active diaspora cherishing and preserving Lithuanian identity with detailed information on distinguished and recognized people who share various connections to Lithuania. He believes that honoring these individuals in Lithuania is not only meaningful but will also yield direct benefits to the society.
This initiative reflects a growing recognition of the contributions of the Lithuanian diaspora and prominent figures tied to the country, which may contribute to enhancing Lithuania's cultural heritage and international standing. By engaging local leaders in this project, Drukteinis hopes to foster a sense of pride and community involvement in recognizing and valuing the historical connections that Lithuania has on a global scale.
