Canadian NHL Stars Leave Olympic Village

Canadian NHL players have moved from the Olympic village in Milan to a luxury hotel organized by the NHL Players' Association (NHLPA) in order to maximize their chances of winning Olympic gold.

The Canadian NHL stars have opted to leave the Olympic village in Milan, where they had initially spent a couple of nights, and transfer to a luxury hotel established by the NHL Players' Association (NHLPA). The decision was made by the leading players on the team, including goalies Darcy Kuemper and Logan Thompson. Kuemper expressed that this move is aimed at maximizing their opportunity to win an Olympic gold medal, and Thompson added that he believes this choice should not offend anyone.

Miro Heiskanen revealed that all Finnish players also have accommodations at the NHLPA hotel, with the option to pass their rooms on to family members if desired. Despite Canada moving out, other hockey teams will continue to stay in the Olympic village. Reports indicate that the Finnish team, known as 'Leijonat' (the Lions), has no plans to leave the village, even though the accommodations do not match the luxury level found at the NHLPA hotel and consist only of a bed and a nightstand.

The decision by the Canadian team to relocate has drawn attention, as it contrasts with the experience of other athletes in different sports who find themselves in more basic dwelling conditions. This choice highlights the different approaches to preparation and comfort that teams prioritize in pursuit of Olympic success, particularly in a sport as competitive as hockey.
