Clara Barbosa, a councilwoman from Óbidos in the state of Pará, Brazil, achieved a significant milestone by participating in a biennial international political training program for youth held in Rome, Italy, in early February. The event was centered around the theme 'One Humanity, One Planet: Synodal Leadership,' and brought together young leaders from diverse backgrounds to discuss political action and global challenges.

The highlight of the program was an audience with Pope Leo XIV, where Clara became the first political leader from Óbidos to personally meet the Pope. This momentous occasion underscored her role as a young leader, setting her apart as the only representative from western Pará present at this international gathering. The program was organized by the NGO New Humanity, affiliated with the Focolare Movement, in collaboration with the Pontifical Commission for Latin America and supported by the Porticus Foundation.
