Man Identified as Faction Leader in Bahia Arrested in São Paulo
Reinaldo Conceição Coelho, known as 'Cabeção' and 'Cérebro', was arrested in São Paulo for leading a drug trafficking and organized crime operation linked to a faction in Bahia.
Reinaldo Conceição Coelho, also known by the aliases 'Cabeção' and 'Cérebro,' has been arrested in São Paulo, with reports confirming his identity despite the Bahia Secretary of Public Security not disclosing it. Coelho is reportedly connected to a criminal faction from Rio de Janeiro and was wanted on three arrest warrants concerning serious charges like arms and drug trafficking, money laundering, and involvement in violent deaths.
His apprehension was made by the Integrated Force to Combat Organized Crime (FICCO) of Bahia and the Department of Homicides and Protection of the Person (DHPP) from Salvador. Investigations have suggested that Coelho played a significant role in the distribution of drugs and firearms within the faction's operations, highlighting the ongoing struggle against organized crime in the region.
Coelho was among nine individuals arrested in Operation Duplo X, which was launched in June 2024, an initiative aimed at dismantling local crime networks. The operation involved significant developments, including the killing of Renê Mateus dos Santos Júnior, known as 'Tio Chico,' in Sergipe, who was believed to be a key figure in this criminal landscape. His arrest and the ongoing crackdown are part of broader efforts by law enforcement to combat gang-related activity in Brazil, especially in light of the rising violence and drug trafficking in urban areas.
