Rescuers retrieved a dead person from the sea at Stroomi beach

A rescue operation at Stroomi beach led to the recovery of a man who had slipped into the water and subsequently drowned.

This morning, the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board initiated a rescue operation at Stroomi beach after receiving reports of a man sitting on a rock about 200 meters from the shore. Despite efforts by the police patrol that arrived first on the scene, the man fell into deep water shortly thereafter. Unfortunately, the rescue attempts were unsuccessful, and the man was later confirmed deceased.

The alarm was raised on Tuesday, February 10, at approximately 9:55 AM, prompting an immediate response from emergency services. The police arrived quickly but were unable to reach the man in time to prevent the tragic accident. It highlights the dangers that can often arise in coastal areas, especially during adverse weather conditions when conditions are not safe for swimming or rock climbing.

The incident serves as a somber reminder of the risks associated with water recreation and the importance of safety measures. Authorities may examine whether further precautions are needed at the beach to prevent similar tragedies in the future, emphasizing the need for awareness about water safety among the public.
