Spotify grows more than expected

Spotify saw an 11% increase in monthly users, reaching 751 million in the last quarter of the year, surpassing their initial forecasts.

In the last quarter of the previous year, Spotify reported an 11% increase in its monthly user base, bringing it to 751 million. This growth exceeded the company's expectations and previous projections made in their third-quarter report, where they anticipated 745 million monthly users, including 289 million premium subscribers.

The streaming service noted that out of the total users, 290 million were paying premium subscribers. This represents a significant portion of their user base and indicates the effectiveness of their subscription model in converting free users into paying customers.

Financially, Spotify ended the accounting year with a profit of 701 million euros, equivalent to approximately 7.94 billion Norwegian kroner, for the last three months. The total revenue was reported at 4.5 billion euros, which aligns with company forecasts. However, the operational result surpassed previous estimates, marking a positive outlook for the company as it continues to grow its market presence and subscriber numbers.
