Armed Gang Robs Van Right on the Highway. Explosion Filmed Like a Movie
An armed gang staged a dramatic robbery of an armored van on an Italian highway near Tuturano, resulting in a police shootout but no serious injuries.
On February 9, a brazen armed robbery occurred on an Italian highway connecting Lecce and Brindisi, where a gang impersonating police officers attacked an armored van transporting valuables. The gang, dressed in white coveralls, blocked the vehicle's path, opened fire, and detonated an explosive to breach the van's rear. The incident unfolded in broad daylight, resembling a scene out of an action film.
Following the robbery, real police units arrived on the scene and engaged in a shootout with the criminals. Despite one police vehicle being struck by gunfire, remarkably, there were no serious injuries reported among the officers or civilians nearby. The police were able to apprehend at least two members of the gang, though several others managed to escape by stealing vehicles from passing motorists, making their getaway more difficult to track.
The heist targeted a company known for transporting luxury goods, including high-end watches and cash. Authorities are now working to identify the escaped robbers as they investigate this daring crime, which has captured public attention due to its audacious execution and cinematic quality.
