Pavlos Aslanidis has been unanimously elected as the new president of the Tempi Victims' Relatives Association, taking over from Maria Karystianou, who did not participate in the recent voting processes. Karystianou cited systematic obstacles in the functioning of the association and her involvement in political activities as reasons for her departure, marking a significant shift in the leadership of the group. Alongside Aslanidis, Eline Vasara remains the secretary, Vasilis Pavlidis takes the vice-presidency, and Mirella Routsii continues as treasurer.

As the association undergoes these changes, it emphasizes its institutional continuity and commitment to ongoing memory initiatives and advocacy for the victims of the railway tragedy that occurred three years ago, which claimed 57 lives. The public is being mobilized for a national rally and strike planned for February 28, commemorating the anniversary of the tragic incident. This event aims to honor the memory of the victims and to reaffirm their rights and demands for justice and accountability.

The association will conduct its annual commemoration event in Syntagma Square, consistent with its tradition, aimed at keeping alive the memory of those lost in the tragedy and pushing for necessary reforms in the railway system to prevent such disasters from happening in the future.
