On September 2nd of last year, a tragic accident occurred in Kaunas where a motorcyclist was fatally injured. The preliminary investigation indicated that an Audi Q5, driven by a woman, incorrectly maneuvered from a secondary road and crossed three lanes before colliding with a motorcycle on the main road. The motorcyclist, riding a Yamaha, was thrown from the bike, leading to further collision with another vehicle. The investigation was overseen by the prosecutor's office in Kaunas and conducted by the criminal investigation unit of the Kaunas county police. They examined the accident scene, gathered expert opinions, analyzed information collected during the investigation, and interviewed witnesses to understand the circumstances surrounding the crash. After reviewing all evidence, the prosecutor concluded that the motorcyclist bore responsibility for the crash as he was operating the motorcycle without a valid license, and was speeding at the time of the incident, which ultimately contributed to the accident. This case raises awareness over road safety and the importance of adhering to traffic regulations to prevent such tragedies in the future.
