187 million kroner to repair roofs and prevent drafts at the capital's hospitals

Danish hospitals in the capital area receive 187 million kroner for urgent repair and renovation projects to improve conditions.

Hospitals in Denmark's capital region are set to receive a significant financial boost of 187 million kroner aimed at addressing pressing infrastructure issues such as leaking roofs, drafts, and poor ventilation. This funding is part of a new health fund established under the 2024 health reform and is seen as essential for maintaining and upgrading hospital facilities. Kristian Antonsen, director of Bispebjerg Hospital, highlighted that this financial support is crucial for a long-term improvement plan that spans several years.

Among the hospitals receiving funding, Hvidovre Hospital will benefit from 75 million kroner towards renovations of its neurology department, while Rigshospitalet will gain 8 million kroner for a new treatment building including surgical rooms. This allocation of funds is indicative of the Danish government's commitment to healthcare infrastructure and modernization efforts in the wake of increasing healthcare demands and challenges.

Moreover, the newly established health fund aims to distribute a total of 22 billion kroner to regions for hospital maintenance and modernization from 2026 to 2035. This significant investment underscores the importance of providing quality healthcare through updated facilities and improved working conditions for staff, ultimately enhancing patient care and safety in the long run.
