Australian Team Bobsleigh 'Team Netherlands'?... Australian athlete says 'it's actually mine, I lent it out.'

Australian bobsledder Sarah Blizzard clarifies that the bobsleigh, marked with 'TeamNL,' is her personal equipment that she lent to the Dutch team for their training ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics.

The Australian women's bobsleigh team has sparked interest on social media after being seen using a bobsleigh with 'TeamNL' written on it. This was notable as the Australian team's colors are green and yellow, contrasting with the Dutch team's branding. Sarah Blizzard, a member of the Australian team, took to TikTok to clarify that the bobsleigh is actually her personal property and not part of the official team equipment. She explained that she lent it to the Dutch team because they had previously assisted her, and they had modified the bobsleigh with Dutch markings as they were using it for practice.

Reports indicate that Blizzard and her teammate, Dez Johnson, have been helping the Dutch team as they prepare for qualifications for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. The Dutch team needed to place in the top eight at the Bobsleigh World Cup held in St. Moritz, Switzerland, to secure their Olympic slot, but their bobsleighs were deemed inadequate. In light of the high costs of acquiring new bobsleighs, which can exceed $70,000, Blizzard readily agreed to lend her bobsleigh to support their efforts.

Social media users have praised Blizzard for her sportsmanship, with comments expressing gratitude for her willingness to help another country’s athletes. The Dutch team successfully earned their Olympic qualifying spot while using Blizzard’s bobsleigh, demonstrating international collaboration in sports. They plan to continue using the same equipment together with the Australian team during the Winter Olympics in Italy.
