India is advancing its ambitious plans to build a space station, as emphasized by Imtiyaz Ahmed, the Programme Director of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). As part of its initiatives, ISRO is developing 80 satellites designed to support the Gaganyaan crewed space flight mission, which will facilitate communication of critical data back to Earth during the mission. These satellites are crucial components in ensuring the success of Gaganyaan and other ongoing space projects.

ISRO's broader objectives include a variety of specialized programs such as earth observation missions, the Navigation with Indian Constellation (NVS), the Indian Data Relay Satellite System (IDRSS), and the Venus Orbiter Mission. The agency has set an ambitious timeline, aiming to deploy the first of five modules for the space station into orbit by 2028, with the entire space station slated for completion by 2035.
