They lured victims to meetings and then beat them. 11 people face charges in the pedophile hunters case

A group of 11 young people in Prague, including eight minors, face charges for luring adults using fake profiles on social media and subsequently assaulting them.

In mid-February, a group of eleven young individuals from Prague, comprised of ten men and one woman, is set to appear before the District Court for Prague 9 regarding serious allegations linked to pedophile hunting. Eight of the group members were minors at the time of the offenses. The state prosecutor has charged them in connection with incidents where these young people created false online profiles on social media, posing as teenage girls to attract adult men to meetings, only to violently assault them afterward. Reports indicate that the victims were beaten, kicked, and had their hair and eyebrows shaved off as a form of humiliation.

According to news from iROZHLAS.cz, the prosecutor has proposed a wide range of penalties, suggesting prison terms ranging from one year to thirty months of conditional sentences for most defendants. For one individual, a cumulative sentence of 15 months in prison is being requested. This case has garnered significant media attention due to its nature and the involvement of minors who were purportedly acting as vigilantists in their attempt to combat potential predatory behavior by adults online.

The prosecutor highlighted three specific incidents, one of which had previously been reported by media outlets in 2024, and circulated videos depicting the assaults have fueled public interest and concern. The situation raises questions about the legality and morality of such vigilante actions, emphasizing the need for clear boundaries between lawful preventive measures and illegal acts of violence, particularly involving minors in such sensitive matters.
