The 'Consortium for Employment and Safety in the Power Industry' has finalized an agreement for KEPCO KPS to directly employ 593 subcontracted workers engaged in regular maintenance of power facilities. This decision, made during a press conference on October 10 at the Korea Press Center in Seoul, aims to address the safety issues highlighted by the tragic death of employee Kim Chung-hyun and to reform the multi-layered subcontracting system within the maintenance industry. The consortium refers to the government's 2017 guidelines for the conversion of non-regular workers in the public sector into regular positions, ensuring that all affected workers will be transitioned to direct employment status.
