Johanna Matintalo: relationship change
Finnish skier Johanna Matintalo has experienced a significant change in her relationship and training, with her fiancé Lauri Vuorinen now taking on a coaching role for her.
Johanna Matintalo, one of Finland's most followed ski couples, has made a notable change in her daily life as her fiancé Lauri Vuorinen has taken on a substantial coaching role in her athletic career. Matintalo, who is 29, ended her two-year coaching relationship with Ville Nousiainen after the last season and has largely taken charge of her own training, receiving invaluable support from her world championship medalist fiancé.
Matintalo emphasizes the significance of Vuorinen's presence in her life and career, stating that without him, she wouldn't have achieved her current level of performance or well-being. The couple’s partnership has proved essential not only in personal terms but also in enhancing Matintalo's competitive edge, as evidenced by her recent outcomes on the world stage.
This season, despite having faced health issues that affected her previous performance, Matintalo has established herself within the top ranks of the World Cup circuit, finishing in the top seven six times this season, and even securing her first World Cup event victory. This new training arrangement seems to be a successful shift, highlighting the positive impact of their relationship on her athletic progress.
