Resort linked to Ratinho received approval from state agency for construction in preservation area in Paraná

The Tayayá Porto Rico Residence & Resort in São Pedro do Paraná gained environmental licensing approval for its construction, despite being partially located in a permanent preservation area.

The Tayayá Porto Rico Residence & Resort, located in São Pedro do Paraná, Brazil, received authorization from the IAT (Instituto Água e Terra), the state environmental licensing agency. This approval allows construction to proceed within a Permanent Preservation Area (APP) along the Paraná River, which raises concerns regarding adherence to the Brazilian Forest Code. Initially, a preliminary license was issued in 2022; however, its progress faced setbacks due to a public civil action filed by the Federal Public Ministry, citing illegalities in the construction plans. This led the resort's company, Terras do Paraná, to modify its construction project while continuing with development efforts.
