'El Zarigüeya' Falls, Alleged Extortionist of H1-A1 in Mexico City
Police in Mexico City arrested an alleged extortionist known as 'El Zarigüeya', associated with the criminal group H1-A1 linked to La Nueva Familia Michoacana.
Police from the Mexico City Citizen Security Secretariat apprehended an alleged extortionist known as 'El Zarigüeya' in the Venustiano Carranza borough. This individual is reported to be part of the H1-A1 criminal group, which has ties to La Nueva Familia Michoacana. The arrest follows a series of extortion activities that have plagued local businesses in the area.
According to journalist Carlos Jiménez, 'El Zarigüeya' has been implicated in the arson of businesses whose owners failed to comply with extortion demands, with one notable incident involving a shop in Toluca that was completely destroyed by fire. This behavior highlights the violent tactics used by criminal organizations like H1-A1 to enforce their extortion schemes and instill fear within the community.
The H1-A1 group is believed to have been formed by members associated with La Nueva Familia Michoacana, which is led by notorious figures such as Johnny Hurtado Olascoaga (nicknamed 'El Pez') and José Alfredo Hurtado Olascoaga ('La Fresa'). Their operations in Mexico City and surrounding areas continue to pose significant challenges for law enforcement and local residents, further complicating efforts to combat organized crime in the region.
