The image of the bundles of dollars, euros, and pesos seized by Justice due to complaints in Andis
A cache of cash, including nearly 700,000 dollars, was found in connection with a scandal involving overpricing at Argentina's National Disability Agency.
Investigators discovered substantial sums of money hidden in a closet, totaling 695,457 dollars, 1,960 euros, and nearly 20 million pesos, related to a corruption case at the National Disability Agency (Andis). This evidence was presented in the ruling by Judge SebastiΓ‘n Casanello, who processed Ornella Calvete, a former official in the Ministry of Economy, along with 18 others for their alleged involvement in corrupt practices. Ornella Calvete was deemed a crucial participant in these illicit activities, reportedly working in conjunction with her father, Miguel Γngel Calvete, who has also been processed and identified as the leader of a criminal association. This scandal centers around accusations that the former director of Andis, Diego Spagnuolo, engaged in active bribery, further implicating high-ranking officials in systemic corruption within the agency. The dissemination of the photos depicting the cash seized has drawn significant public attention, reigniting scrutiny over corruption in government institutions. As the investigation unfolds, it raises questions about accountability and the effectiveness of oversight mechanisms in place to prevent such abuses of power, while also highlighting the socio-political climate in Argentina at the moment.
