Australian authorities have launched a multi-agency operation targeting illegal foreign fishing boats along the Queensland coast and the Torres Strait.
The Australian Border Force has initiated a new operation aimed at combating illegal foreign fishing activities off the coast of Queensland and in the Torres Strait. This operation comes after the interception of 10 suspected illegal fishing boats in Queensland waters since the beginning of the year and indicates that foreign fishers may have reached the Australian mainland as early as October of the previous year. The authorities have noted a persistent problem with illegal fishing that threatens both local fisheries and marine conservation efforts.
