Gym student who attended the same class as deceased woman is hospitalized in ICU; victim's husband in serious condition
A 29-year-old woman has been hospitalized in the ICU after attending the same swimming class where 27-year-old instructor Juliana Bassetto died following a medical emergency.
A tragic incident unfolded in São Paulo, Brazil, where a 29-year-old woman was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Hospital São Luiz Tatuapé after attending a swimming class on the same day that instructor Juliana Bassetto, aged 27, passed away due to a reported medical emergency. The occurrence took place on Saturday, and reports indicate that after the class, the woman experienced severe symptoms, including nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, leading her to seek hospital care the next day, where she was subsequently admitted to the ICU.
The lady's hospitalization marked her as the fourth victim related to this swimming class incident at C4 Gym. Reports confirm that three others are currently in the ICU, while another is in a regular hospital bed. Among the injured is Vinicius Oliveira, the husband of the deceased instructor Juliana, who is also facing serious health complications after experiencing respiratory insufficiency, resulting from the same incident. He is presently stated to be in grave but clinically stable condition at the hospital.
This unfortunate situation raises significant concerns over health safety at fitness centers, especially in high-intensity classes such as swimming where participants exert considerable effort. The local health authorities may need to investigate the underlying cause of the health emergencies reported and ensure that proper medical protocols and precautions are in place to protect attendees from similar incidents in the future.
