Camimex demands strengthening of investigations and security after miners' murder in Sinaloa
The Mexican Mining Chamber is calling for increased security measures and investigative efforts following the tragic deaths of kidnapped miners in Sinaloa.
The recent confirmation of the deaths of miners who were kidnapped in Sinaloa has raised significant concerns regarding safety within Mexico's mining sector. The Mexican Mining Chamber (Camimex) expressed its condolences and emphasized the need for enhanced investigative measures to ensure such tragic incidents do not recur. The organization condemned the loss of life and underscored the urgency of better protecting workers in this dangerous industry.
Three miners have been identified as the victims: Ignacio Aurelio Salazar Flores, José Ángel Hernández Vélez, and José Manuel Castañeda Hernández. The Chamber made a formal statement expressing their deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of the deceased. They insisted that it is unacceptable for workers' safety to be compromised under any circumstances and reaffirmed the right of the victims’ families to seek justice and accountability from authorities.
In light of these tragic events, Camimex is calling for both immediate and long-term strategies to strengthen security measures in the mining sector. This incident has sparked a renewed discussion about the risks associated with mining in Mexico, highlighting the ongoing issue of violence and lack of safety for workers. Strengthening investigations and implementing effective security protocols is crucial to restoring trust in the sector and preventing future tragedies from occurring. The Chamber’s demands reflect broader concerns about worker safety and the responsibilities of both government and mining companies in protecting their employees.
