Aeroméxico will maintain flights to Cuba despite fuel shortage

Aeroméxico announced it will continue its flights to Cuba despite an aviation fuel shortage reported by the Cuban government.

Aeroméxico has confirmed it will keep its flight route between Mexico City International Airport and Havana operational, in spite of Cuba's announcement regarding a fuel shortage for aviation. The airline stated that it will provide updates through its official channels should the situation change. Currently, Aeroméxico operates this route with daily flights throughout the week.

The Cuban government recently informed airlines operating in the country that as of the upcoming Monday, there would be no supply of aviation fuel to support flights. This fuel shortage comes amid tightening U.S. restrictions on oil supplies to the island, as various reports indicate. Last week, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he would impose tariffs on countries that supply oil to Cuba, intensifying the already strained relationship between the two nations.

This situation poses significant impacts not only on air travel to Cuba but also on the economic activities heavily reliant on tourism. With Aeroméxico's commitment to maintaining operations, the airline may be aiming to attract travelers undeterred by the current instability, while also navigating potential future challenges of fuel shortages.
