Reports indicate that the officer, who was recruited by an individual using the name "Steven," engaged in a series of clandestine meetings and communications that commenced in 2025. Although the name might be a pseudonym, Greek intelligence agents remain suspicious about the true identity of the recruiter. The officer's initial interactions centered around geopolitical studies, with remuneration ranging between 500 to 600 euros; as trust was established, the accused began sharing highly classified military documents that are of national importance.
