Couple Found Dead Inside House with Stab Wounds in SC; Police Investigate Robbery
A couple was discovered dead in their home in Água Doce, Brazil, with signs of being stabbed, and police suspect it may be related to a robbery.
In a tragic event, a couple, identified as Pedro Pires, 85, and Marli Chimello, 57, was found dead in their residence located in the Oziel Settlement, Água Doce, in the western part of Santa Catarina, Brazil. The crime occurred on Friday, October 6, but was only uncovered the following morning when the police received a call alerting them to the situation. As of Monday, October 9, no arrests had been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
The victims seemingly had no prior police records, complicating the understanding of a possible motive. Pedro was discovered lying on his back with a head wound, while Marli was found on her back with injuries to her neck, likely from stab wounds. The police also noted the scene's disarray, including a toppled chair and a disheveled bag near the bodies, which adds to the suspicion that the crime may have been a robbery gone wrong, a scenario known in Brazil as latrocínio, where a robbery leads to murder.
Despite the evidence pointing towards a violent crime with robbery as a possible motive, the police have not yet confirmed this theory or released information on what items may have been taken from the home. The lack of suspects and the manner of the crime raise concerns about safety in the local community, prompting residents to be vigilant and for authorities to enhance their investigative efforts to uncover the truth behind this heinous act.
