On the night of Sunday (8), a tragic shooting attack occurred in a bar located in Nova Iguaçu, in the Baixada Fluminense region of Brazil, resulting in the deaths of five men and one woman. The woman, identified as Ana Cristina dos Santos, 57, was reportedly shot by a stray bullet while passing by the bar. Additionally, another woman was injured during the incident but has since been treated and released from the hospital.
According to local authorities, the shooting took place at the establishment on Francisco Assumpção Street in the Floresta neighborhood. The victims, all male, ranged in age from 21 to 53 years old, but their names were not publicly disclosed at the time of publication. Emergency services removed the bodies from the scene and transported them to the Medical Legal Institute of Nova Iguaçu early Monday morning.
The Civil Police are currently investigating the circumstances and motivations behind the crime. In a statement, the police department indicated that the case is being handled by the Homicide Division (Delegacia de Homicídios), reflecting the ongoing issues of violence and crime in the region that necessitate urgent attention from law enforcement and local communities.
