A D subway station reopened: which ones are still closed
The Agüero station on line D of the Buenos Aires subway reopened after three months of renovations, with five more stations still closed for similar work.
The Agüero station of the D line of the Buenos Aires subway has reopened as of Monday, following extensive renovations that took three months. This reopening is part of a larger initiative by Subterráneos de Buenos Aires, the state-owned company managing the subway network, to modernize various stations throughout the system. While Agüero has been restored, there are still five stations that remain closed due to ongoing comprehensive interventions, including stations on other subway lines such as Piedras and Congreso on line A and Uruguay and Malabia on line B.
The renovations at Agüero included waterproofing, painting, and the installation of metal coverings to prevent leaks, in addition to a complete flooring replacement. New LED lighting has also been introduced, along with updated signage and the provision of new amenities such as benches and waste baskets on the platforms. The project aimed not only to enhance the visual appeal of the station but also to improve passenger flow and accessibility through critical upgrades to entrances, stairways, and platforms.
Agüero is the fifteenth station to undergo repairs as part of this renovation plan, highlighting the city’s commitment to improving public transportation infrastructure. The restoration efforts, which also included the revival of two murals located on the platforms, are expected to create a better overall experience for riders and encourage increased subway usage, which in turn can help alleviate traffic congestion in the city.
