Intracom Defense (IDE) has been designated as the leading contractor for a NATO initiative aimed at the standardization of Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs). The project, titled "Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USV) Standardization: Current Status and Future Outlook," focuses on documenting the current state of USV standardization and formulating recommendations for NATO to expedite related processes. This initiative is pivotal in ensuring interoperable operations among NATO member states in utilizing USVs effectively.

Additionally, the project outlines plans for collaboration with Standards Developing Organizations (SDOs) and the industrial sector, highlighting the need for a unified approach to USV technological standards. Intracom Defense is working alongside the Greek company Defence Standardization Advice P.C. (DEFSTAND), which specializes in interoperability and standardization management, as well as ASTM International, a global organization dedicated to the development and distribution of technological standards. Such collaborations reflect the importance of integrating various expertise to enhance the standardization of unmanned systems within NATO.
