Shaath: We Await the 'Peace Council' Meeting to Confirm Funding Commitments for Gaza Reconstruction
Ali Shaath announced that a meeting of the 'Peace Council' is expected to confirm funding commitments for the reconstruction of Gaza.
Ali Shaath, head of the National Committee for Gaza Management, announced that they are awaiting a meeting of the 'Peace Council' scheduled for ten days from now, which aims to confirm the funding commitments received for the relief and reconstruction efforts in Gaza. Following his visit to the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing, Shaath spoke to Al-Qahera News, stating that they are working on an appropriate plan to facilitate the entry of health and educational materials into Gaza.
Shaath mentioned that they have held discussions with the European Union, the United Nations, and Arab countries to explore support for Gaza. During these discussions, commitments have been made regarding necessary funding for relief, recovery, and reconstruction of the area. The upcoming 'Peace Council' meeting, led by U.S. President Donald Trump on February 19 in Washington, is expected to reaffirm these funding commitments for Gaza's recovery efforts.
Emphasizing the importance of logistics, Shaath noted his visit was aimed at assessing the logistical measures at the Rafah crossing to facilitate the passage of Palestinians. He commended Egypt's efforts in allowing substantial aid to enter Gaza and the protocols implemented at the Rafah crossing to ease the movement of people in and out of the region. This narrative underscores the critical humanitarian needs in Gaza while highlighting international collaboration and support for reconstruction.
