Ainsalu will play in a Levadia jersey next season
FCI Levadia has announced that midfielder Mihkel Ainsalu will continue with the club for the upcoming season after previously expressing a desire to move abroad.
FCI Levadia, which secured a silver medal in the previous season of the Estonian Premium League, has officially declared that midfielder Mihkel Ainsalu will retain his position with the club for the next season. Despite earlier speculation reported by football portal Soccernet regarding Ainsalu's intentions to transfer to a foreign club, the club confirmed through a press statement that he has extended his contract.
Ainsalu, aged 29, joined Levadia in 2023 and has made a significant impact during his tenure, appearing in 129 matches, scoring 30 goals, and contributing to the club's championship win in Estonia in 2024. During the last season alone, he played in 35 matches in the Premium League, netting ten goals and providing one assist, showcasing his essential role in the team's success.
In preparation for the new season, Levadia has also bolstered its squad by acquiring new players, including Joseph Saliste, Aleksandr Švedovski, Nigerian Abraham Nnamdi Nwankwo, and Senegalese Moussa Sambe. The opening match of the new Premium League season is scheduled for March 8, where Levadia will host FC Kuressaare, setting the stage for an exciting tournament ahead.
