SD Leader Wants Action on Luleå Company's Ranking: "Shameful"
The leader of the Sweden Democrats in Luleå criticized the city's business ranking as unacceptable and called for improvements, even suggesting the dismissal of the municipal director if results don't improve.
In response to a poor business ranking presented by Svenskt Näringsliv for the autumn of 2025, Dexter Krokstedt, the group leader of the Sweden Democrats in Luleå, initiated a proposal to address the city's ranking, labeling it as 'shameful'. He emphasized the need for Luleå to be a central hub in Norrbotten, indicating that the current ranking is far from what is acceptable. Krokstedt's initiative highlights a growing concern among local politicians regarding the economic positioning of their municipality.
During a municipal committee meeting, the need for a crisis commission to tackle the ranking was discussed, but members agreed that such drastic measures were unnecessary. Fredrik Hansson, the municipal council member, stated that there is already significant work underway aimed at improving the city's ranking. However, it was apparent that there is a consensus among the parties about the necessity for improvements, even if the proposed remedies differ.
Krokstedt's proposal included the dismissal of the municipal director if conditions do not improve, a point that was not supported by the committee. The municipal director, Anna Lindh Wikblad, refrained from commenting on political opinions regarding the ranking. This situation reflects the ongoing debate about economic performance and governance in Luleå, as city officials navigate how to enhance the local business climate effectively.
