Gym Valet Was Responsible for Pool Maintenance Where Teacher Died, Says Police
A valet in charge of maintaining a gym pool where a teacher died is being sought by police for questioning in connection with the incident.
Police investigations have revealed that the valet, who was responsible for maintaining the C4 Gym pool, is being sought for questioning regarding the tragic death of 27-year-old teacher Juliana Faustino Bassetto. It was reported that she swam in the pool before suffering a medical emergency that led to her death in East São Paulo. Police efforts focus on locating the valet, who is essential to understanding the maintenance procedures of the pool, particularly concerning the mixture of chemicals used for cleaning.
In a statement to the media, Delegate Alexandre Bento from the 42nd Police District emphasized the urgency of locating the valet. He noted that the police have been unable to find him and highlighted the need to determine the cleaning products and their respective ratios that were used in pool maintenance before the incident. This information is crucial for understanding whether the fateful circumstances could be linked to any chemical exposure or negligence.
Additionally, concerns raised by the incident extend beyond the unfortunate event of Bassetto's death; two others—her husband and a 14-year-old adolescent—were also hospitalized after coming into contact with the pool water on the same day. As investigations continue, authorities have conducted forensic examinations at the gym facility, uncovering chemical products and materials associated with the pool's maintenance. The outcome of these investigations could lead to broader implications for public safety in similar recreational facilities.
