Nephew suspected of killing teacher in PI asked for help with washing machine to take her to the crime scene

A nephew is suspected of fatally stabbing his aunt, a teacher, in Dom Expedito Lopes, Brazil, under the pretext of needing help with a washing machine.

Yan Marques, 21, is under suspicion for the murder of his aunt, Sagane Carvalho Almeida, 35, who was found dead in Dom Expedito Lopes, Piauí, after being lured to his home. According to the Civil Police, Marques invited his aunt over to supposedly fix a washing machine. However, once she arrived, he fatally attacked her with a knife, believing she was influencing other family members against him.

The incident took place on Saturday, October 7, and during his custody hearing the next day, Marques maintained his claim that he acted out of a misguided belief of family loyalty and influence. The details of the attack were described by police detective José Neto, who stated that Marques struck his aunt multiple times in the neck, leading to her immediate death at the scene.

Following the attack, Marques attempted to flee but was subsequently arrested by the police. The case raises concerns about domestic violence and familial relationships in Brazil, particularly as it pertains to the alarming rates of violence against women, and highlights the need for greater awareness and judicial measures to handle such warnings effectively.
