Doctor suspected of killing two people in an accident in Bahia is arrested

A doctor in Brazil, suspected of being involved in a fatal accident that killed two people, has been arrested after being on the run.

A doctor, Enéas de Carvalho Silva Filho, aged 50, was arrested in Salvador, Brazil, after being on the run for his alleged involvement in a fatal car accident in Valença, Bahia. The incident occurred on January 23 and resulted in the deaths of two individuals on the BA-542 highway. Investigations revealed that the doctor was possibly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, and eyewitnesses reported that he showed signs of intoxication shortly after the collision.

The accident was described as being particularly violent, with the two involved vehicles colliding at high speed. Following the crash, the doctor was taken to a medical facility in Santo Antônio de Jesus for treatment but subsequently became a fugitive just as the case started to gain media attention. Authorities located him in a residential condominium in the Pituaçu neighborhood, indicating that he may have been trying to evade justice.

Classic evidence in the investigation includes the results of a police inquiry which highlighted the presence of alcoholic beverages found in the doctor’s car and his refusal to submit to a breathalyzer test. As this case unfolds, it raises concerns about accountability and the impact of impaired driving in Brazil, pushing for stricter measures to ensure road safety and prevent further tragedies of this nature.
