Olympic broadcasts bring changes to ETV schedule
ETV's programming will experience changes during the Olympics, with extended sports news altering the timing of evening shows.
Starting February 9 and continuing until the end of the Olympic Games, ETV and ETV2 will have a modified schedule. This change is primarily due to longer sports news segments, which will now run until 10 PM, covering highlights and results from the Winter Olympics set to occur until February 22. The extended sports news will lead to new airing times for regular shows in the evening.
As a result of the Olympic coverage, some regular programming will be adjusted or skipped entirely. For instance, shows like "Osoon" and "Johannese lΓ€hetamine" on ETV, along with "Plekktrumm" on ETV2, will not air on February 9. Additionally, the Monday show "Ringvaade" will have a shortened duration of 45 minutes before switching to ski jumping events. This alteration signifies the network's commitment to prioritizing Olympic content, reflecting the significance of the Games to sports coverage in Estonia.
The changes to the schedule, along with more extensive sports news reports, are aimed at keeping audiences engaged and informed about the Olympic events. The adaptations not only highlight the importance of the Winter Olympics to ETV's broadcasting strategy but also illustrate the flexibility required in media programming to accommodate major sporting events. These changes can enhance viewer experience by providing more immediate coverage of the dayβs top moments and outcomes from the Games.
