In a significant development for Italy's cybersecurity infrastructure, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has inaugurated a new operations room for the Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) at the Farnesina. This facility is equipped with specialized technologies designed to enhance monitoring and analysis of cybersecurity events related to the administration. The establishment of this center reflects Italy's commitment to safeguarding its digital domain, particularly in an era marked by hybrid warfare where cyber threats are escalating.

Speaking at the inauguration, Tajani emphasized the necessity of bolstering tools against hostile actors, especially in light of recent incidents of hybrid attacks that have targeted critical online infrastructure, including diplomatic websites. He assured that the new Cyber Room is operational around the clock, 365 days a year, indicating a proactive stance towards managing cyber threats. Since its initiation at the beginning of the year, the room has already dealt with numerous incidents, underscoring the urgency and relevance of its mission.

Furthermore, Tajani highlighted a recent cyberattack that affected around 120 diplomatic missions, illuminating the vulnerabilities faced by nations in the current geopolitical climate. In addressing these challenges, Italy aims not only to improve its defenses but also to position itself as a leader in cybersecurity within Europe, showcasing its readiness to confront the shifting dynamics of international security that increasingly encompass cyber dimensions.
