Russia will do everything possible to help Cuba
Russia is working with Cuban authorities to address an airport crisis and facilitate the return of Russian tourists, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov.
Russia is actively seeking solutions in collaboration with Cuban authorities to tackle the current airport crisis that has left Cuba without fuel for planes, as announced on Monday by Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov. He emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating that Russia is committed to doing everything possible to assist Cuba and to maintain the flow of tourists from Russia. Peskov highlighted that diplomatic channels are being utilized to engage intensively with the Cuban government on this matter.
In his daily press briefing, Peskov also pointed to the considerable challenges facing Cuba as a result of what he described as "suffocating measures by the United States," which are exacerbating the country's difficulties. He indicated that Russia and Cuba are exploring various strategies to alleviate the issues and improve conditions in the Caribbean nation. The announcement comes amid growing concerns about Cuba’s ability to manage its tourism sector effectively under current circumstances.
Furthermore, it was reported that approximately 4,000 Russian tourists are currently in Cuba, and according to the Russian Tourism Industry Union's press service, all planned flights are operating normally at this time. The situation highlights both the dependence of Cuba on tourism and the importance of Russian visitors to the Cuban economy, alongside the backdrop of political tensions stemming from U.S.-Cuba relations that continue to influence the available support for the island nation.
