K Group, one of the largest grocery retailers in Finland, has announced an increase in the price of plastic bags from €0.39 to €0.50 at K stores. This price hike follows a previous increase in May 2022, reflecting a significant shift in consumer behavior where only one in five shopping trips now involves purchasing a plastic bag. The company’s sustainability leader, Timo Jäske, highlighted that last year’s price increase has led to a permanent decline in plastic bag usage.
