A fatal incident occurred in Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State, Nigeria, where a 30-year-old man named Ashahabu Ubale died after he entered a well to retrieve a burning gas cylinder. The situation emerged when the gas cylinder was thrown into the well, prompting Ubale to attempt a rescue. The Kano State Fire Service confirmed the event through a statement from its Public Relations Officer Saminu Abdullahi, which detailed the emergency response that followed.

The Kano State Emergency Response Unit received a distress call about the situation, which led to a swift mobilization of the Gwarzo Fire Service branch. Residents, particularly Alhaji Dan Gwarzo, alerted the fire service regarding the man who entered the well to address the emergency. Unfortunately, as Ubale descended, the gas cylinder he was retrieving opened and released gas, which displaced oxygen within the well and led to severe suffocation, rendering him unconscious.

Fire service personnel managed to pull Ubale from the well, but despite their efforts, he was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. This tragic incident highlights the dangers associated with handling gas cylinders improperly and the potential risks involved in emergency rescue situations, emphasizing the need for public awareness and safety precautions in handling hazardous materials.
