Nuclear power output remains partly reduced, Ukraine's Energy Ministry says

Ukraine's Energy Ministry reports that nuclear power output is still partially diminished following recent Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure.

Ukraine's Energy Ministry announced that the country's nuclear power output remains partially reduced, continuing the trend of decreased production after two significant Russian attacks on the energy system in early February. First Deputy Energy Minister Artem Nekrasov highlighted the ongoing efforts of energy workers to repair and restore operations at nuclear plants and high-voltage substations that are crucial for energy output.

As of February 9, some regions, including Sumy, Dnipro, and Kharkiv, are still experiencing partial power outages due to ongoing military hostilities and prior attacks on energy infrastructure. The situation remains critical as emergency repair work is being conducted at these facilities to regain stability in energy supplies. The Ministry is working diligently to mitigate the impact of these attacks on the energy sector and ensure that nuclear power can be fully restored as soon as possible.

The continuous threats from Russian military operations pose significant challenges not only to power generation but also to the overall energy security of Ukraine. The recent attacks have underlined the vulnerability of infrastructure in the face of ongoing conflict while highlighting the resilience and determination of energy workers who are striving to restore power and support the country’s recovery efforts in a challenging environment.
